Project Back-to-School Backpacks

Remember when you were young and you were able to go back-to-school shopping? There was a buzz of excitement around picking out a new backpack and selecting your folders and your crayons or pencils and all the other goodies?

Unfortunately, not all kids get to experience that because their parents just don’t have the money to get them back to school stuff. That’s why we’re partnering up with the Clay County (West Virginia) Family Resource Network to provide 50 filled backpacks for school this year.

And, we need to start NOW!

Here’s what we need:

25 School Age Backpack Donations

A new backpack filled with any/all of the following new items:

  • Blessing Bag filled with hygiene products for kids
  • Glue sticks
  • Scissors (blunt ended for younger kids, pointed for older ones)
  • Ballpoint pens
  • No. 2 pencils (plain, no designs)
  • Colored pencils
  • Crayons
  • Pencil sharpener (hand-held with a top to collect shavings)
  • Large pink eraser (old-fashioned kind)
  • Four-ounce bottle of white glue
  • Spiral-bound or composition notebooks
  • Three-ring binder
  •  Loose-leaf notebook paper (wide-ruled paper) inside of pocket folders (plain, colored)
  • Ruler with English and metric measurements
  • Scotch tape
  • Small stapler

25 Preschool Backpack Donations

A new backpack filled with any/all of the following new items:

  • Blessing Bag filled with hygiene products for young kids
  • Stuffed Animal
  • Coloring Book
  • Crayons
  • Glue sticks
  • Scissors (blunt ended)
  • #2 Pencils (plain, no designs)
  • Pencil sharpener (hand-held with a top to collect shavings)
  • Large pink eraser (old-fashioned kind)
  • Four-ounce bottle of white glue
  • Scotch tape
Please send your filled backpacks to: Monkey Do Project, Suite 78335, Indianapolis, IN 46278

NOTE: Please don’t send “rolling” backpacks (with wheels) as some schools don’t allow them.

Want us to pick out and fill the backpack?

No problem! We are looking for $30 donations to purchase a backpack and fill it with school supplies. Be sure to put “Clay County Backpacks” in the comments field when you’re donating online so we can route your money to the correct project.

We are closing out this project on August 1, 2012, in order to get the backpacks to the kids on time.
